No. Niobium works completely without an account for all local note-taking on your machine. An account is only required if you choose to use Niobium Cloud sync.

Is the Niobium app free?

Yes, the desktop and Android applications are completely free to use.

Is Niobium open source?

No. Niobium is released under a proprietary software licence. However, your notes are stored as standard, open Markdown (.md) files that remain entirely under your control.
